Infopost! aka This is a Carol Danvers Stan Page. Don't @ Me Haters
Finally the moment everyone's been waiting for... The infopost of Carol Danvers' #1 Fan! (Soon to be a multi-part series)
Behold the wonder that is Kamala Khan aka Ms. Marvel
Before she became Ms. Marvel, Kamala was a Pakistani-American high school student living in Jersey City. Like any other teenager she's-caught-between-her-family’s-expectations-and-her-own-teenage-dramaTM.
Born to immigrant parents, Yusuf and Muneeba Khan (the OG Bon Jovi Fans), Kamala grew up with her older brother, Aamir, in a tight-knit community. Her family highly values their cultural heritage, practicing Muslim traditions which they try to impress upon Kamala. Despite the generational clashes, Kamala is very close to her family, respecting traditions while also trying to maintain her own identity.
Kamala's parents, Yusuf and Muneeba Khan, emigrated from Karachi, Pakistan, to Jersey City, where they raised Kamala and her brother, Aamir. If you want a picture of the American dream? It's this family. They emigrated to Jersey with a baby and worked long and hard to build a home and be a part of the Muslim community. And while Kamala's parents start off as being overprotective, as the series and movie progresses they become Kamala's biggest supporters. Muneeba even made her daughter's first costume and encourages her to be a better hero.
Look, I know most you other MCU heroes lost their parents. Let's celebrate this one keeping hers and being an intricate part of the story, right? Right?
One of Kamala's major obsessions are the heroes that inhabit the MCU. How obsessed? To the point of distraction. Before becoming Ms. Marvel she spent most of her free time devoting herself to art, fanfic and videos dedicated to MCU heroes and Carol Danvers in particular.
Kamala’s adoration for Carol Danvers, aka Captain Marvel, aka "Captain, oh my Captain!", is so intense it could power all of Tony Stark's armor suits for decades. She’s got the posters, the action figures and rare edition Funko Pops. She’s the president, vice-president, and treasurer of the Carol Danvers Fan Club (unofficial). If fangirling was a sport she'd be the MVP of the play offs, spiking the football on home base and then shouting to the world she's going to AvengerCon (because that's better than Disney World and probably less expensive).
Look I don't know sports, okay? MOVING ON!
The story starts with Kamala failing her driver's test and finding a bangle passed down by her grandmother. Unable to drive herself and her BFF Bruno to AvengerCon, she sneaks out of the house to attend AvengerCon. Donning her homemade Captain Marvel costume, she puts on the bangle awakening her dormant mutantTM power . Her power activates and causes your typical emerging power accident endangering a fellow student from her high school. But she ends up saving everyone so it wasn't too bad though it did attract attention from government aka "Damage Control"
So with her new abilities she can create glowing constructs of hard light; Kamala confides in Bruno, who helps her understand and train her powers. She begins practicing in secret, fueled by her admiration for Captain Marvel and wanting to be a hero herself.
Meanwhile, her newfound abilities coincide with the arrival of a clandestine group called the Clandestines. Led by Najma, these individuals have been searching for the bangle for years, as it is a key to opening a portal to their home dimension. Najma's son, Kamran, was enrolled in Kamala's high school in an attempt to better understand Kamala's powers and eventually get a hold of Kamala's bangle. Kamala and Kamran hit it off of course because of course there has to be a love triangle (Kamala-Bruno-Kamran) in any fiction involving teenagers.
While trying to understand her powers and the Clandestines' motives, Kamala learned her great grandmother, Aisha, was a part of the Clandestines and the original keeper of the bangle. While obtaining the bangle, Aisha was separated from the Clandestines where she met and fell in love with Hasan, a human. They married and gave birth to Sana, Kamala's grandmother. Najma eventually caught up with Aisha during the partition of India and Pakistan. In the chaos of mass exit of India, Najma stabbed Aisha, leaving her for dead. Aisha used her last bit of life and strength to use the bangle and reach through time and space to summon Kamala (who she assumed was Sana) to try and rescue her daughter who had become separated from Hasan. Kamala used her newfound powers to ensure her grandmother was returned to her great-grandfather keeping the timeline in place and making sure no one from the TVA showed up.
Kamala (and some allies known as the Red Daggers) eventually faces off with the Clandestines. Which inadvertantly opens up a portal to the Noor dimension... which actually is bad as the energies from there could destroy the entire world. After Kamala pleads with Najma to close it, Najma sacrifices her life to close the portal, shifting and sending energies to Kamran giving him similar abilities as Kamala.
Meanwhile, Damage Control has been trying to track down Kamala after her display of powers and instead find Kamran. Now on the run from the government, Kamala, her brother and all her friends attempt to save Kamran from being captured. In what can best be described as a "Home Alone" segment, Kamala & company do their best to hold off the Damage Control operatives attracting the majority of the community of Jersey City who rally around their new hero and friends.
Now established as a new hero in Jersey City, Kamala continued her role as "Ms. Marvel" (not Night-Light. Thank you.)
And then everything goes sideways. Off in another galaxy, a Kree leader, Dar-Benn finds the companion Quantum Band to Kamala's bangle which affects all the jump points used for interstellar travel. And thanks to comic timing, Carol Danvers and Monica Rambeau interact with two different jump points as Kamala touches her glowing bangle which entangles their light powers. Now any time the trio uses their powers simultaneously, they would switch places.
Now a little backstory: After regaining her memories and getting a power up, Carol Danvers went to the Kree home world and destroyed the AI (aka Supreme Intelligence) that ruled the empire and kicked off a Kree civil war that destroyed the Kree home world. Now with the quantum band, Dar-Benn is off on a tour of the universe to get revenge on Carol and restore her home world's resources.
So Kamala, Monica and Carol teamed up to fight against Dar-Benn, managing to finally stop her before destroying Earth's sun. Only catch: Monica had to sacrifice herself due to the tear in interdimensional time and space that Dar-Benn had ripped open.
Carol and Kamala returned to Earth, hoping to find a way to get Monica back. Carol moves into the Rambeau's old home in Louisiana and Kamala starts reaching out to other young heroes to start her own team.
TL;DR?
Here's the scoop. Kamala is coming to Fandom to attend the university a couple of years after the events of The Marvels. Nick Fury has specifically arranged for Kamala to come here in order to try and curtail her recruitment of younger heroes into the (please let it happen) Young Avengers.
She'll only have the one quantum band as no 18 year old should ever have that much power on an interdimensional nexus. She probably has decent knowledge of all the MCU heroes living on the island but if there's anything specific you'd rather her not know, please ping me and let me know. In general she'd probably know the headlines but not the specific details other than what a super-fan can find from the internet, including Scott Lang's novel and podcast series. I'll be checking with you MCU and Marvel comics folks just to make sure.
Except you Remy. No X-men yet.
Questions? Comments? Concerns? Pie?
